The awesome author, Dawn Torrens @KevinSwarbrick 'Deliciously Scandalous Blog Tour'.
My next guest is the amazing author, Dawn Torrens.
I have known Dawn since I first started on twitter, she has been a huge support and a huge inspiration to me, I am proud to call Dawn a great too, a friend that I would like you all to meet. Can you tell my readers a little about yourself Dawn :)
I published my first book in October 2011, since then I have published four books and I am currently penning my fifth. I am a devoted mother and my princess is my world. I am married and live inEngland . I adore chocolate and pork
sausages. I don't like arrogance and
hate bullies.
Nice little Bio there, four books so far and one on its way is a huge achievement, even more so with the little time you do have on your hands. I wont get started about bulling, that's all in this next book I'm working on. Lets keep this interview like chocolate nice and sweet :)
Sometimes in life we all want more than what we can have, but if you had one wish to have anything or anyone, what would that wish be and why?
My one wish now would most definitely be that my princess's Asthma would just disappear forever.
Now you can't beat that wish. Bless her. I know you have done a great blog post about Asthma and for the reader who would like to find out more then please take a look on Dawns blog later once the interview has finished when we leave you all the links you need to read all Dawns work :) I will start with the first question and bring a little fun to the interview...
I would like you to make a short Story up using no more than 500 words containing every one of these 14 keys words; Tube, Hand, Cube, Dog Poo, Sky, Window, Cut, Car, Sex, Lamp, Job, Grass, Spoon, DM!
You have been very lucky in that respect, if it wasn't for my close friends who believe in me and my writing then I really wouldn't have made it this far. Its a shame really that the people you thought your meant to be close to, can just change and can't be happy with what you are doing! They don't see any hard work that goes into writing! I have learnt to cut these people off and just get on with what I enjoy doing, if someone can't be happy for you then their not worth the energy in my eyes.
If you had a chance to run any country and make a difference, what county would it be and why?
It would be my countryEngland , the coalition
simply isn't working in my honest opinion. There are many homeless people in
our country and many empty boarded up houses, the answer is in front of us! I
would introduce more serious prison sentences for people who abuse animals as the
punishments are not severe enough and are not acting as a deterrent. I would
introduce more bank holidays and bring back free milk for children in all
schools.
Now I will toast to that. This country is such a mess and its not getting any better. There's so much this government can do, but they choose not to and just waste money on things we don't need! I won't get started on this topic, I think I will move on to the next question :)
What would you say the worse thing a reader has ever said to you and what was your reaction?
One reader wrote a comment on my website (which I did not approve and ignored!) I won't repeat what she said bit it wasn't pleasant! Every once in a while in this business draws out the crazies...
It sure does and the best thing to do is ignore them, speaking of ignoring them...
I would like you to vision yourself walking down a busy high street with your partner and suddenly there was a noise that came from his bottom and people turned around looking at you, what would your reaction be and why?
I have a great sense of humour and would simply laugh point towards my partner and carry on walking!!
'Giggles', Yes I might have done that once or twice, but don't tell anyone and I wont tell them about the one you let off when you walked in and you started pointing the finger at the chair!!
Use only two words that would describe you?
Determined & chocolate!
I can see that Dawn, you work very hard indeed and your a very sweet person so I can understand the chocolate part too ;)
Have you ever been…
A, The owner of a lonely heart
B. The owner of a broken heart
C. None of the above?
If the answer is C, please can you tell the reader how you have done it, I can see the reader would being interested to know that one, I know I am...
Lol, I would love to know the secret answer to C! My answer like most people is answer B. I have been the devastated owner of a broken heart in the past...
I would say religion could be one secret and the other is.... I can't tell you the answer to that, I'm still learning lol
Its time for a little fun, I would like you to do the rhyme ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’.
Using your own words and without holding back.
Hickory dickory dock
Kevin lost his sock
he opened the fridge
it was on top of his beer
Hickory dickory dock...
'Giggles', my sock on my beer! What kind of impression do I give out... My socks would be under my pizza box that's on the floor, I thought you knew that, the chance of there being beer in the fridge is very slim. Someone always drinks it... Next question I think ;)
When you are writing, do you ever think, 'Erm me and my partner did that once, that has to go into the story?
I have definitely drawn on past experience for my romance novel!
Yes, now that's great to hear ;) I was sick of being the only one that says; Yes you are in the book now get over it lol. I had a conversation with a friend when I was out having a cheeky drink and we was on about this, and me being me at the time and not really thinking said; I would love to star in a book, he almost spat his beer out, he turned and looked at me and said, "Your in three as it is!" Valid point I guess lol
I would be a Saxophone for sure, like that great instrument I am soulful and full of jazz!!
I can imagine you blowing hard on that saxophone and playing a really good tune!! 'Giving my head a wobble' I'm not saying which one... I'm just going to move on instead...
I wish I had the ability to say NO more often, I just find it so very hard.
No comment! 'Giggles' I'm just having a few wicked thoughts then, somethings coming back to me from the past...
My first kiss was the most amazing experience ever, I was totally besotted with the guy who there after became my boyfriend and first love.
Awww how sweet is that, now get me a bucket!! lol Its a good job you know me ;)
My childhood had a massive impact on my life and how my journey brought me to this point. Also one or two remarkable people along the way had a huge impact on my life too.
I can relate to the childhood, I know from reading your past that you went through a hell of a lot and to be here to day talking to me is a true strength of its own. Not the fact your talking to me, but being able to share you experiences and to write them down for others to relate to. I felt the pain when I was reading your story and I was also very proud of how far you have come and the awesome work that you continue doing :)
Who inspired you to write or was it always a dream to be an author?
It was always a dream, I was inspired by many great authors. As young girl I was totally inspired by, "The diary of Anne Frank" a remarkable story. I was also a huge fan of Dickens and many more. I soaked up the words like a sponge and started writing before I hit my teen years. Poetry mainly at that time.
I am sure everyone will agree when I say it is a great feeling to watch other peoples dreams come true and I am loving watching you grow. I remember asking you that question in my Facebook group when you took part in the spotlight :) https://www.facebook.com/groups/322062041161801/
My current WIP is a romance novel called, "Tears of Endurance" due for release in September 2013. It's a very intense love story filled with love, loss and tragedy...

Hi Lucy, just a quick update as promised, Damian is stuck in a long queue right now for ice cream. My day so far!
I was lucky in that the people surrounding me when I started were very
supportive and were there for me every step of the way. I discovered in the
virtual world very early on that not all people are what they seem and there
are some pretty devious people out there who want to see you fail. You soon
realize who are friends or foe! I have a great network of author friends
including yourself sweetie, who are a great support to me and have turned into
really great friends.
I parked the car and climbed out stepping straight into a pile of dog poo, this really wasn't my day! My beautiful new red shoes I'd purchased the day before to go with my red tube dress were ruined. I looked to the sky and thanked God it wasn't raining. Just as I was about to take my shoes off a pigeon flew over my head missing me by inches and pooed all over my car window, what the hell is going on with all this poo today? I could not meet Damian with Poo covered shoes, so I left them in the boot and proceeded bare foot. I quickly scanned the picnic area of the park for my date and then I spotted him in the distance, and he was looking every bit as delectable as I remembered, sitting on the crisp newly cut grass.
As I made my way towards him I was drawn to a cluster of bushes to my right, there was a really disturbing noise coming from behind them. I heard the sound of a woman, she sounded in pain. I slowly walked towards the bush ready to help the poor woman clearly struggling on the other side. Then I heard a man's voice, it did not sound good, he was clearly hurting the woman, I was scared, but still I made my way slowly, suddenly the man shouted out. I picked up my pace and practically leapt over the bush to the woman's aid and fell awkwardly on my hand. What I saw was not what I was expecting at all, two people stark naked having sex in broad day light, well, at least that's what I think they were doing, although that was one position I'd never come across before! Feeling extremely embarrassed I made my apologies and made a sharp exit.
Just when I thought my day could not get any worse, it did, I was so flustered at what I'd just witnessed I walked straight into a lamppost as I crossed the path to meet Damian, who by the way had fell about laughing and was literally holding his stomach. I was mortified. I meandered over to him and he could barely contain his laughter. I had no shoes, a headache was forming and I almost assaulted two people having sex in the park. He said to me, "I can't wait to see what you have in store for the rest of the day." He laid out the picnic and I have to say I was rather disappointed he'd brought plastic knives, forks and spoons, but I guess no one is perfect. I will send you another DM later with an update on the rest of my day. I have to dash I can see Damian coming back with two large ice creams. By the way my cube table arrived the other day and it looks amazing in my apartment. By the way I got that job I applied for now I just need to inform boss! Hope you're having a wonderful holiday. xx
Love the story Dawn and you sure passed that little test ;) It makes me wonder who the two people were who was having sex in broad day light! Some people have no shame at times 'Giggles' I should know I write about it ;)!! Moving on sharpish...
When I first started writing I had a lot of negative people around me, I know I had to lose that energy in order to continue writing and fulfilling what others thought I couldn’t do. Did you ever experience any of this when you first started writing or was you lucky enough to have the right support around you?
